Samantha Smith

Sam recently moved to Nanaimo from Vancouver. After receiving a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science at the University of British Columbia, she pursued a law degree and received her Juris Doctor from the University of Saskatchewan in 2016. Sam then decided accounting was a better fit for her and received a post-degree diploma in Accounting at the University of British Columbia in 2020 and joined public practice. In 2023, Sam received her Chartered Professional Accountants (CPA) designation.

What drew you to the accounting profession?

I have a strong affinity for learning and enjoy a challenge. Tax is always changing and is always evolving with new rules and regulations. Tax feels like a puzzle and there is nothing more fulfilling than putting the pieces together.

What are your favourite extracurricular activities?

I am an avid reader and can often be found with a book in my hand. I also love to wind down after a long day by watching some reality TV or going for a nice walk.
