Colton McNeil

BBA, CPA, CGA – Partner

Born and raised in Nanaimo, BC, Colton graduated from Vancouver Island University in 2013 with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and was admitted to Chartered Professional Accountants Association in 2015. After articling with a mid-sized local CPA firm, he moved to Edmonton, AB with his wife while she attended law school at the University of Alberta. While in Edmonton he worked for a publicly traded real estate development and investment corporation as a senior corporate accountant.

Upon his return home to Nanaimo, he worked as a Financial Controller for a large software and online marketing service provider. In early 2019 Colton decided to return to public practice and utilize his experience to assist small and mid-sized business with bringing their business to the next level! When not in the office Colton enjoys spending time with his wife and their two dogs Timone & Pumba.

Why are you passionate about what you do?

For me it comes down to people. I am passionate about using my skills and expertise to make a positive impact on people’s lives and in their business. To me there is nothing more fulfilling and rewarding than saving my clients money by utilizing effective tax planning solutions.

Why do you enjoy being a part of this profession?

Becoming a CPA requires a lot of time and dedication and as a result, it is something that I am very proud of. It is wonderful to be a member of a long standing internationally recognized and respected profession. However, what I enjoy most about the profession is the flexibility it provides. After attaining a CPA designation the opportunities for where you choose to take your career are endless.

What gets you excited about coming to work each day?

There are two reasons I can’t wait to come to work each day, my co-workers and my clients. I have long felt that a positive and friendly work atmosphere makes all the difference and the same is true with clients. I am fortunate to have surrounded myself with a like-minded all around great group of people that makes coming to work each day feel a lot less like work!
