Accounting Technician

Pacific CPA Chartered Professional Accountants is a mid-sized boutique CPA firm that has been practicing out if its Nanaimo location since 1985. We are currently seeking a full-time Accounting Technician to join our growing and dynamic team at this very exciting time.

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • Completion or near completion of Bachelors of Business Administration degree
  • Public practice accounting experience including; familiarity with Sage, Quickbooks, Caseware, and Tax Cycle
  • Understanding of accounting theory and full-cycle file preparation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Highly motivated and efficient
  • Positive attitude and desire to learn
  • Strong ability to manage assignments and project deadlines under pressure

RESPONSIBILITIES

Duties of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Preparing Notice to Reader financial statements and corporate tax returns
  • Preparing personal tax returns
  • Bookkeeping assignments, including but not limited to payables, receivables, bank and credit card reconciliations, tax returns, payroll calculations and remittances
  • Payroll processing and source deduction remittances
  • GST, PST, and WCB returns and remittances
  • Preparing T4’s and T5’s
  • Full cycle accounting, data entry, and account reconciliations
  • Producing quality working papers
  • Documents scanning to Doc-it
  • Performing other accounting projects as assigned

Senior Associate / Manager Tax Services

QUALIFICATIONS

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, qualifications, and experience:

  • Completion of Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation
  • A minimum of three years of public practice accounting experience including; familiarity with Sage, Quickbooks, Caseware, and Tax Cycle
  • Extensive knowledge of accounting standards for private enterprises (ASPE)
  • Understanding of accounting theory and full-cycle file preparation
  • Extensive knowledge in the areas of personal and corporate Canadian taxation
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Exceptional research skills
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Significant experience using Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook)

  • Public practice accounting experience including; familiarity with Sage, Quickbooks, Caseware, and Tax Cycle
  • Understanding of accounting theory, practice, and systems
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Managing monthly and quarterly bookkeeping assignments, including but not limited to payables, receivables, bank and credit card reconciliations, tax returns, payroll calculations and remittances
  • Payroll processing and source deduction remittances
  • GST, PST, and WCB returns and remittances
  • Preparing T4’s and T5’s
  • Full cycle accounting, data entry, and account reconciliations
  • Producing quality working paper files for year-end preparation
  • Documents scanning to Doc-it
  • Performing other accounting projects as assigned
  • Backup administrative tasks as assigned
